July's inspiration by Pascale

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue Fern Studios blog with three new projects. The first two features the Timeless collection.

I take th photo of the Astrance in the garden of the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire (Loire Valley, France)

First I primed the Song paper from the Timeless collection with clear gesso. Then I added a design with a stencil and 3D Gloss Gel.

When dry, I added some color in green and burgundy to match the photo. I splattered a mix of Merlot glitter, gel medium and water as well as white gesso. I added also a design with the Postal stamp and the Ginger embossing powder.

I primed the Wild Flourish Bundle with white gesso before coloring it with watercolor. I sprinkled the leaves with Verdant and Lime embossing powders to add some texture.

I primed the Persian Ornement with clear gesso and covered it with a clear crackle paste. When dry, I used two mica powders to color it.

To finish, I added some random stamping with the Halftone stamp.

Chipboards - Wild Flourish Bundle, Persian Ornament ;

------------------------------

I also use the Timeless collection for the second layout but as you can see the result is really different. I take this photo during an street event we have recently near the place I live. This clown is called Lullaby and the show was so entertaining.

I cut in the Freedom and Main Street papers from the Timeless collection some squares that I glued on the background with a soft gel. When dry I covered everything with clear gesso.

Then I added a design with a stencil and a white crackle paste. I let dry naturally before coloring the background in various shades of brown and green.

I primed all the chipboards with clear gesso The title Glee was just paint in green. The Chelsea Vines were painted in brown, then sprinkled with two shades of green embossing powder.

I covered the Mod Squares with the Rust Effect Paste and splattered them with the same green watercolor I used on the background and the title.

Before gluing all the elements, I stamped randomly the background with the Making Plans stamp.

------------------------------

Here is my third project:  I chose a photo of the Duncaire Castle situated on the shore of Galway Bay (Kinvara, co. Galway, Ireland) and the new collection Seaside Cottage was just the perfect choice.

I started to prime the background with clear gesso before adding a design with a stencil and 3D gloss gel. When dry, I added a second design with another stencil and white crackle paste.

I primed the chipboards with clear gesso. I painted the title Magique from the French Adjectives 2 set with a silver watercolor as well as the Seaside Flourish. While the watercolor was still wet I sprinkled some Icicle embossing powder.

I colored the background with different shades of blue and green. Then I mixed some Silver Prism glitters with water and gel medium and splattered the mix on the background to remind the reflections in the water. I repeated the process with the Blue Ice glitters.

After having glued all the embellishments, I added some stones to remind the ones in the photo.

Seaside Cottage and Tranquility collections with video by Wilma Voermans

So happy to show you two layouts with the new Seaside Cottage collection.
It was a last minute, since I just got my papers in, but I managed .
Scrapbooking is a great hobby to  relax after busy days at work :)

My first choice of the collection is this SUPER background paper.
It is the B-side from the Mermaid paper.
The Seaside collection has a lot of great background papers for more masculine pages.
And the boys have to be scrapped too .

I am not sure or I  did it ever before,
but I found out that alcohol ink is perfect for coloring chipboard.
It dryes quick, covers in one time and gives a beautiful mat finish.
Besides that it soakes into the chipboard ,  so the sides are colored too.

In the background I used Gold embossing powder and two  colors alcohol ink.
If I may say so myself...LOVE IT
Chipboard that I used:
Celebration heart
XOXO set
Ornate frame
Number Grid small
*******

The second layout I made is also from the Seaside Cottage collection.
Its called Gala.
And yes, also the B-side..
I just love that paper with the Italian map image and the beautiful old color rosa.
The ornate frame was first embossed with oatmeal.
After that I brushed it with distress ink which was the right color for me.
I gave it a quick spray with a sealer to make the ink stay.
In the background I used Ginger embossingpowder
*******

My last layout is made on a pattern paper from the Tranquility collection.
I can explain what I did, but it is much easyer to watch the video I made .
A start to finish process video.
I hope you find the time to watch it here:

July Social Media and YOU!

Hello, Blue Fern Studios followers!

Sandi here with you today sharing my monthly Social Media post.
This month I've taken some screen shots of projects posted to Instagram. If you're not there, you should make an effort to check it out! A quick and fun way to see some gorgeous creations.
Please tag us there so that we can find you! Also, do the same when visiting Pinterest. We have a full Pinterest board that features YOUR creations.

Seungeun Lee of Korea, @seungeunlee82 on Instagram, created this with white card stock, watercolors and a stencil. The Blue Fern Studios Splattered Circle Chipboard piece really takes center stage on her fantastic composition. Of course, the watercolors are wonderful! Here is a link to her Blog.

Lilliana Guerrero created this sweet layout of her daughter and used our papers as her background. You can visit her Blog to see more of her work. Thanks for sharing, Lilliana. We hope to see more of your work!

Kimberly Murray,@theswaggyplanner, created this gorgeous gatefold mini album created for a  DT assignment. We love how that violin image really takes center stage. Well, we're dying over the fork, too! Wouldn't you just love to flip through this beauty?

Yuko.a5577 has no further information in her bio on Instagram, so we'd love to know who you are and give you credit for this exquisite piece! Yuko has used the popular Blush collection for this wonderful layout. The fussy cutting and chipboard treatment really caught our eye.

Karin, from Sweden of  Karin's Blog made this fantastic card full of die cut butterflies and used paper from the Timeless collection as her base. This was a DT assignment for a company who is in the die-cut industry. But, wow! Isn't this amazing?!

And lastly, this is a repost of Jan Hobbins' Instagram post.
Her little village was created with dies and using our Tranquility paper collection. This is one of those jaw-dropping beauties that just makes you want to run to your scrap room and create!
Full details and more photos are on this Post on Jan's blog. What an amazing creation to complete our post today!

We hope you have check out our new Seaside Cottage paper collection along with the coordinating chipboard, flowers and all our new embossing powders! And stamps! We haven't talked about stamps much lately but we need to do a full post on those alone!

Thank you for using Blue Fern Studios products!
And keep posting those chipboard title ideas!

July Layouts by Maja

Hello everyone, welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog :-)

I have three layouts to share today. The first one is made using the Tranquility collection and features a photo of my son on one of our sailing trips:

I love wood-patterned papers! And I used three wood desings for the background of the layout. To mat my photo, I also used the Crackle Bits chippes heat-embossed with 14 Karat ep:

Then I embossed the fascination, serenity and stillness words with the Breeze ep and used them for the title of my page.

Another chipboard piece I used is the beautiful Seaside Charms piece. I used two embossing powders to add colour to it: Copper for the "charms" and Oatimeal for the rest.

Then I completed my design with Tranquility flowers, real seashells, pearl beads, cheesecloth and glitter :-)

Fascination, Serenity, Stillness:
Papers: Tranquility: Contentment, Calm, Jubilation, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Crackle Bits, Serenity, Calm, Hushed; Peaceful, Stillness, Contentment; Serendipity Words 2; Seaside Charms
Flowers: Tranquil Blooms
EP: 14 Karat, Breeze, Oatmeal, Copper
Glitter: Pyrite

My next two layouts feature the beautiful Attic Charm collection, filled with soft pastel colours and vintage images. It's perfect for sweet gilry projects, like this page :-)

I layered two pink papers and arranged layered calling cards to mat my photo.

I added pieces of lace in between the layers for a more delicate, romantic look:

I used the beautiful Circle Flourish Large piece as a frame for my photo. I painted it with golden acrylic paint and added some flowers from various sets to match the chipboard ones:

For the title I used the Blooming Beauty piece: I used an embossing pen to trace along separate words and embossed the Beauty with 14 Karat and the Blooming with a mix of Fuchsia and Petal.

I added more flowers down the page and a birdcage from the Veranda set to make a cluster with the printed mannequin image:

Blooming Beauty:
Papers: Attic Charm: Calling Cards, Attire
Chipboard: Blooming Beauty, Circle Flourish Large, Veranda Cage Set
Flowers: Attic Charm Daisies, Attic Charm Glitter Roses
EP: 14 Karat, Fuchsia, Petal

But the Attic Charm collection is not only for girly projects :-) I selected the ecru and soft blue papers for this boy page:

I first layered the Curio and Haberdashery sheets and added some stamping in the background with motives from the Beads&Chamrs, Forever and Deja Vu stamp sets:

I used the middle clock from the Roman Clock Set Large, coloured it with mists, applied upon the Sachet paper, cut out and used it as the frame for my photo:

The title for the layout is the Loving You piece coloured with mists and glitter, added some clock hands from the clock set and completed my design with pieces from the Cogs and Gears set and  Tranquility and Courtship flowers:

Loving You:
Papers: Attic Charm: Curio, Haberdashery, Sachet
Chipboard: Loving You, Cogs and Gears, Roman Clock Set Large
Stamps: Beads&Charms, Forever, Deja Vu,
Flowers: Tranquil Roses and Lilies, Courtship Roses
EP: Ginger, 14 Karat, Ebony, Breeze

That is all for today, thank you for visiting and I hope you have been inspired :-)
