September Inspiration with Jelissa

Hello friends and welcome to the month of September!

Things are definitely going at warp-speed for me now that little baby is due any time now. Sometimes I do feel like I'm getting affairs in order, which sounds so morbid!

Anyhow, I'm in today to share my September creations for Blue Fern Studios. I couldn't resist using the sketch that Michelle has created for this month's challenge even though I had a different project planned. So here is her sketch:

And my take on it:

I've never used so much purple before! But the soft palette of the Deja Vu papers made it so easy and pleasing. This is one of my favourite photos of Number 2 and hubby - don't they look so happy with their bright smiles?

Lots of close-ups:

My title, which I have left untouched but just simple priming with gesso. Not forgetting the paper layers I have under my photo.

Part of the Circle Vine chipboard which I used to frame my photo. I had cut out one end so that the whole piece fits and still gives me the flow I wanted for the page. I had also die cut some leaves out for adding into the floral cluster.

Die cut doily from one of the Deja Vu sheets.

Using the collection title from the info strip as a sentiment in my top cluster. I used the Deja Vu stamp set to create a resist for my watercolor background, plus the little piece which I had snipped off the Circle Vine chipboard. I also added some beads and distress glitter for extra texture.

Blue Fern Studios products used:
Papers: Deja Vu collection - Tresors, Atelier, Lustre, Petite Cartes
Deja Vu Stamp set, Widgets
Chipboards: Laughter, Happy, Smile
Circle Vine

My next share is a educator video I've created. I had wanted a relatively simple layout without too much clusters and a comfortable amount of white space.

Again, using Deja Vu papers. I can't seem to get enough of this gorgeous collection! The drawings on this paper is so subtle but yet they actually help to create a visual flow that framed my main cluster beautifully.

Many, many close-ups again:

The Township Collage chipboard which I had altered in a few different ways.

I've always wanted to use that bird cage stamp!

I like the dangling trinkets in the Deja Vu stamp set a lot because of the intricate details they have, just like BFS's laser-cut chipboards.

My title piece.

Main cluster with the pretty papers all layered up and I sneaked in bits of lacy flowers.

And here is how I created this page:

Bente's August post using Frolic and Paisley & Vine.

Hi, Bente here saying hello!
Today I have a couple of pages to share with you that use the two latest collections
called Frolic and Paisley & Vine.
These are both sooo beautiful and Frolic is possibly the most beautiful collection EVER!!!

I used the sheet Friendship from the Frolic collection and the word peeking out from below the photo is part of the Memeory Frames set. I painted it blue as I did with part of the title chipboard Frolic in the Sun. As an added decoration i used the beautiful Boston Lattice.

In this close up you can see how I painted the title and also how I clear embossed my lattice piece with utee after painting it white.

I just love this shot of my DD from a couple of summers back :-)

I picked some colours that work well with the photo and had a play on the background. I made the tiny splashes with my old discarded tooth brush like my FIL once taught me.

One last look :-)

My second page is to remind me of a wonderful day not long ago when we celebrated my eldest DD's graduation in the UK.

I used Passion, Playing cards and Splendor from the Paisley & Vine line for my graduation-page.

I thought the  Destination Labels were perfect for this. I mixed some paint to get one similar to the teal of the collection. And I used a black pen to outline the letters etc.

I like this photo so much I had to scrap three of it :-)

I added pop dots to raise some of my page- elements and create more dimension.

That's all from me today. Thanks for taking a look!!

Frolic and more with Sandi ~

"Fun in the Sun"

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing a mix of new products along with some olders ones as well. I hope the month of July is going well for you. Mine is super busy, busy, busy! I hope August will be a little more "normal" and I'll have some leisure time for creating!

Anyway, I have created a layout for you using the A side of the Friendship paper from the brand new Frolic collection.  I usually try to steer away from the A sides at least for a while but this blue was calling my name .. which is kind of unusual for me.  But I knew that it would be a great background for this photo of the grandkids taken on the Fourth of July weekend, a holiday here in the USA. My photo mat layers are the Adorn papers.

As par for the course, I did some background work with gesso, a stencil, super heavy gesso and mists. Just a light touch as the papers are so pretty.

This is the new Frolic Mesh chipboard piece! Gosh, I adore this one! It is for sure going to be a favorite. I inked it and then did sme random embossing in dark copper.

I was excited to get these sweet Paisley and Vine Flowers chipboard piece in my design team kit! They are adorable ! Sweet and dainty. They were merely gesso-ed and inked. They picked a few random bits of embossing powder from my kraft mat and that created some fun texture

My title piece Fun in the Sun was painted, misted and the embossed all over for a shiny look.

"Cute Stuff"

Next, I decided to play up some of the greens from the Paisley and Vine collection for this photo of my granddaughter. The photo is rather poor quality but she needed it scrapped, so there you go!
I did some photo editing and tried to have a little fun in the process.

I've layered a sheet of Whimsy paper over Bohemian and then used torn strips of Bohemain (both sides) along with Splendor. Playing cards made for a perfect photo mat and subtitle.

Have you seen the new Novelty trim pieces? That red piece in the center is one of them. Mine is painted and then misted in shades of red-orange. I also adore the Deja Vu Atelier Chippie! It made for a beautiful vertical piece to ground my layout. Gesso gave it some tooth and then I used paints and mists. The Cute Stuff title from the Good Vibes set is an oldie that I still enjoy using. I've simply inked it in brown.

The Halftone stamp was used to further frame the photo by adding texture and depth all around the photo area.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Swooning over the Atelier piece and stamps!

"Enjoy the Journey"

You might have already seen this one! It was made for last month's Sketch challenge but I never got a chance to share it.  I've used a combination of Ombre Dreams papers, Shannon's Dream and Julianna's Dream. Using a stencil, super heavy gesso and mist, I created a really fun background. A little brighter than I originally had in mind but I love the final result. All my chipboard was treated with gesso, chalk inks and microbeads and are listed below.

Close-ups:

Love the layering stems.

Microbead fun!

Well, that's it from me this month.
Hopefully next month will be a bit quieter around our house and I can get back to
creating a little more leisurely. There are lots of new goodies on my desk.

Thanks for coming by!
